True wisdom
Thus says the Lord:
let the sage boast no more of his wisdom,
nor the valiant of his valour,
nor the rich man of his riches!
But if anyone wants to boast, let him boast of this:
of understanding and knowing me.
For I am the Lord, I rule with mercy,
justice and integrity on earth,
yes, these are what please me
- it is the Lord who speaks.

La vera sapienza
Dal libro del profeta Geremia
Cosi’ dice il Signore:
“Non si vanti il saggio della sua saggezza e non si
vanti il forte della sua forza, non si vanti il ricco delle
sue ricchezze. Ma chi vuol gloriarsi si vanti di questo, di
avere senno e di conoscere me, perche’ io sono il Signore
che agisce con misericordia, con diritto e con giustizia sulla
terra; di queste cose mi compiaccio”.

Second Reading
A reading from Saint Paul to the Galations
Gal. 6:14-18
The marks on my body are those of the Lord Jesus
The only thing I can boast about is the cross
of our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom the world is crucified
to me, and I to the world. It does not matter if a person
is circumcised or not; what matters is for him to become
an altogether new creature. Peace and mercy to all who follow
this rule, who form the Israel of God.
I want no more trouble from anybody after this; the marks
on my body are those of Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus
be with your spirit, my brothers. Amen.
This is the word of the Lord.

Dalla lettera di san Paolo apostolo ai Galati
6:14-18
Porto le stigmate di Gesu’ nel mio corpo
Fratelli, quanto a me non ci sia altro vanto
che nella croce del Signore nostro Gesu’ Cristo, per
mezzo della quale il mondo per me e’ stato crocifisso,
come io per il mondo.
Non e’ infatti la circoncisione che conta, ne’
la non circoncisione, ma l’essere nuova creatura.
E su quanti seguiranno questa norma sia pace e misericordia,
come su tutto l’Israele di Dio.
D’ora innanzi nessuno mi procuri fastidi: difatti
io porto le stigmate di Gesu’ nel mio corpo.
La grazia del Signore nostro Gesu’ Cristo sia con
il vostro spirito, fratelli. Amen.

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew
- Glory to you, O Lord
Jesus exclaimed, “I bless you, Father, Lord of
heaven and of earth, for hiding these things from the
learned and the clever and revealing them to mere children.
Yes, Father, for that is what it pleased you to do. Everything
has been entrusted to me by my Father; and no one knows
the Son except the Father, just as no one knows the Father
except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal
him.
Come to me, all you who labour and are over-burdened,
and I will give you rest. Shoulder my yoke and learn from
me, for I am gentle and humble of heart, and you will
find rest for your souls. Yes, my yoke is easy and my
burden light”.
This is the Gospel of the Lord.

e le hai rivelate ai piccoli. Si’, o Padre, perche’
cosi’ e’ piaciuto a te.
Tutto mi e’ stato dato dal Padre mio; nessuno conosce
il Figlio se non il Padre, e nessuno conosce il Padre
se non il Figlio e colui al quale il Figlio lo voglia
rivelare. Venite a me, voi tutti che siete affaticati
e oppressi, e io vi ristorero’. Prendete il mio
giogo sopra di voi e imparate da me che sono mite e umile
di cuore, e troverete ristoro per le vostre anime.
Il mio giogo infatti e’ dolce e il mio carico leggero”.
